Safety Tips for Using Pest Control Products
A good pest extermination solution should kill insects quickly and efficiently, but you certainly don’t want it to hurt anything else. Luckily, you can feel confident and comfortable using Combat products in your home. If you’re wondering how to use Combat pest control products safely, be sure to use as directed and follow these tips to get started.
First of all, do your best to avoid prolonged contact with the products. There are two main ingredients in Combat Baits and Gel that work to kill insects, fipronil and hydramethylnon. Although these chemicals are lethal to ants and roaches, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) classifies them as “relatively non-hazardous and virtually non-toxic” to people and pets. However, extended contact can cause skin irritation, and it’s instructed that those who use the products wash their hands with soap and water after handling. If contact with the eye occurs, flush the area with plenty of water for 15 minutes and seek medical attention if irritation persists.
Keep Kids and Pets Away
On a related note, be sure to keep these products out of the reach of children and pets. Keep the bait away from pet cages, food bowls, or bedding and store unused baits in a place where your children or pets cannot access them. Never try to break open a bait station, and make sure that children and pets do not play near areas where roach and ant baits are placed.
Read the Directions
Finally, be sure that you read all the instructions included with your baits or gel carefully. Follow all safety precautions and double-check the labels. Do not use more Combat products than recommended to decrease the chance of problems arising. We want to ensure that your home and family are kept safe and pest-free.
