You may do the mambo, the two-step, or even twerk, but you don’t want to take ants to the dance. So whether you’re planning to step out or step in, you can get rid of your ants with these three easy steps. And you don’t even need to turn on the music, although it would make getting rid of ants more fun.
Kick Them Out of the Kitchen: Nothing attracts ants faster than stray food laying around the kitchen. Ants love sweets, grease, and protein-laden food including meat, nuts, cheeses, and peanut butter. When ant scouts find food, they lay down scent trails which lead from your kitchen or garbage can back to their nest. This attracts thousands of worker ants in search of the next big meal. You need to cut off this invasion with a thorough kitchen cleaning. This includes a good scrubbing of the stove with an all purpose cleaner like Soft Scrub. Wipe up all the crumbs and spills on the counters and floors and place all open bags of food in sealable containers.
Engage Them in Combat: Once you’ve wiped out the ant’s food source, give them something deadly to chew on. Combat Ant Killing Bait Strips, Source Kill Max Ant Bait, and Source Kill Max Ant Killing Gel all work the same way. Combat blends ant-sized doses of nerve or stomach poisons with foods that ants can’t resist. They take the tainted food back to the colony and it is spread around among the queen and the workers. They do the dance of death and the ants will nevermore return to your home.
Step 3) Keep Them Out: About a week after you put out the bait stations, you will want to make sure that the other neighborhood ants (they’re out there!) can’t find easy access to your eats. The bugs will come in through cracks in the foundation, around windows, and under doors. Caulk up cracks and consider replacing the weather stripping around exterior doors. Don’t forget to caulk openings around the cable TV wire, pipes, and electrical wires.
